Routine Building
Purpose for Players:
To create a dependable mental anchor under pressure—something familiar to fall back on during high-stress moments.
How Coaches Should Deliver:
Explain:
Every great player has a unique, repeatable pre-throw sequence that signals the body: It’s time to throw.
Drill:
1. Player experiments with a short sequence (e.g., step to the oche → set feet → 2 breaths → eyes on target → mantra → draw back → throw).
2. Repeat sequence exactly the same for every throw, whether in practice or competition.
Coaching Cue:
Video players to show them any inconsistencies in routine timing or order.
Pressure Simulation:
Recreate match tension (crowd noise, mock finals) so the routine is stress-tested.
