Mental Rehearsal

Purpose for Players:

To build neural pathways by imagining perfect throws, so the brain practises without the body moving.

How Coaches Should Deliver:

Setup the Drill:

1. Ask players to close their eyes.

2. Guide them verbally:

  • “Feel the dart in your fingers…”

  • “See the target, clear and sharp…”

  • “Feel the smooth release…”

  • “Watch the dart land exactly where you aimed…”

3. Repeat for 5–10 imagined throws.

Coaching Cue:

Encourage vivid detail—players should feel the grip, hear the thud, see the flight.

Integration Tip: Use mental rehearsal during warm-up or in downtime between matches to keep confidence high.
