Role-based Development

Goal: Build strengths based on the role a player fills within a team. 


Coach Delivery Method: 


1. Identify Role Requirements: 


Scorers: 


  • High 100+, 140+ consistency; stamina for long matches. 


Finishers: 


  • Calm under pressure; proficiency in 2–3 key checkouts. 


Captains: 


  • Leadership, communication, strategy planning.

2. Assign Role-Specific Drills: 


  • Scorers: “Heavy Scoring Circuit” – 10 minutes each on T20, T19, T18 with recorded hit rates. 


Finishers: 


  • “Last Dart Hero” – recreate match pressure by giving one dart at a double to win the leg. 


Captains: 


  • Scenario simulations—e.g., “It’s 4–4 in a team match, your player is struggling—what do you say?” 


3. Mentoring Structure: 


  • Pair younger/less experienced players with role models in the same role. 


  • Encourage captains to run short warm-ups or pep talks to build authority.
