KEY CONCEPTS
Eye-Dominance and Alignment
Purpose:
Ensure a consistent aiming reference so that the dart travels in the intended direction without subconscious corrections.
Teaching Breakdown:
Finding Eye Dominance
Ask the player to create a small triangle with their hands.
Have them focus on a distant object through the triangle with both eyes open.
Slowly close one eye at a time — the eye that keeps the object centered is the dominant eye.
Why It Matters
The dominant eye dictates the most accurate line of sight.
If aiming with the non-dominant eye, players unconsciously shift darts left or right.
Practical Alignment
Position the head so the dominant eye has a direct, unobstructed view of the target.
Keep the dart directly under or slightly to the inside of the dominant eye.
Avoid twisting the neck too much — comfort and repeatability are key.
Understanding Key Points:
Dart flight begins from the position where it leaves the fingers relative to the dominant eye.
Misalignment = constant correction, inconsistent results.
Coaching tip: Use video replay to compare dart path vs. line of sight.
