Dartboard Layout

How to Deliver:

1. Board Orientation Drill

  • Have players stand at the oche and name any number you point to within 1 second.

  • Progress to blind calling: you call a number, and they must throw at it without hesitation.

2. Strategic Value Explanation

  • Break the board into scoring zones (20s, 19s) and utility zones (bull, 25, low numbers for set-ups).

  • Explain when you might switch to treble 19 instead of treble 20 (e.g., blocked darts, better scoring rhythm).

3. Pressure Application

  • Run “10 seconds to hit” challenges for specific segments to simulate match conditions.

4. Assessment Method

  • At the end of each session, quiz the player verbally and with throws to ensure instant recognition and reaction speed.

Coaching Tip:

Tie each number to its game role—e.g., “Treble 18: The emergency scorer when T20 is blocked,” not just “Treble 18: worth 54.”
