Checkout Combinations

How to Deliver:

1. Introduce Key Checkouts

Teach common 2- and 3-dart finishes first (170, 167, 164, 161, 121, 96, 72, 41).

Group them into “Power Checkouts” (big 3-dart) and “Match-Savers” (50–70 range).

2. Route Logic Drill

For each checkout, explain why certain routes are preferred (e.g., 121 → T20, 11, Bull leaves a single dart at bull; alternative T17 route for players with better south-board accuracy).
3. Random Finish Game

Call out random numbers 40–170; player must throw using the correct route without thinking time.

4. Pressure Simulation

“If you miss the first dart, what’s your plan B?”

Get players to verbalise alternatives mid-round to reinforce thinking speed.

Coaching Tip:
Highlight that missing high is safer than missing low on many routes—this teaches error management under pressure.
