20-Minute Focus Zones
TECHNIQUES
Purpose:
Improve scoring and checkout accuracy by isolating attention on one segment at a time.
Instructions:
Set a 20-minute timer split into 4 x 5-minute blocks: T20 (scoring zone) T19 (backup scoring) D16 (common checkout double) Bullseye (central precision) Stay locked on the assigned target for the entire 5 minutes — ignore all other areas. Count and record hits.
ACHIEVEMENT MARKERS :
Beginner: Consistently stack 2 darts in the same bed 5+ times in a 15-minute session.
Intermediate: Stack or shift without hesitation for 10+ consecutive visits.
Advanced: Combine stacking and shifting seamlessly under match-speed play, hitting 60+ points every visit during practice.
Practice Routine: 15 minutes — alternate between “stack focus” rounds (try to group all darts in the same segment) and “shift focus” rounds (deliberately block your own target to force switching).
Beginner: 8+ hits per 5-minute segment. Intermediate: 12+ hits per 5-minute segment.
Advanced: 15+ hits per 5-minute segment with no more than 2 consecutive misses.
Practice Routine: 3–4 sessions a week.
Rotate the order of segments each session to avoid building comfort bias.
Once scoring is stable, integrate pressure by adding consequences for missing (e.g., if you miss three in a row, restart the counter).
Once comfortable, play a “Stack & Shift 301” game where you must stack when possible and shift when blocked — only count the score if you followed the rule.
