Gamification

(Scores, Streaks, Leaderboards)

Purpose:
To create competition, fun, and motivation so players keep practising with energy and intent.

Coach Delivery Method:

Set up mini-leagues within the team or group. Rotate challenges each week (e.g., “most doubles in 3 minutes” or “highest 9-dart average in 101s”).

Visible leaderboards — post results on the app and/or in the practice venue.

Reward streaks — recognise consecutive days of practice, even if short.

Short challenges in training — break monotony by inserting 3-minute competitive drills between longer tasks.
Common Pitfalls to Avoid:

Allowing only the top players to dominate — create tiered leaderboards so all levels can see themselves progressing.

Overemphasis on winning instead of personal improvement — praise percentage gains, not just rank position.

Letting leaderboard updates lag — motivation drops if results aren’t posted quickly.

Progress Measurement:

Compare streak lengths and leaderboard positions over time.

Monitor whether gamified challenges correlate with improved hit percentages in key drills.
