COACHING FOCUS

Role-Play and Scenario Pressure

Purpose: Prepare for unusual but crucial match moments by simulating specific, high-stakes situations.

Teaching Method:

1. Give the player a specific winning condition:

“You have 36 left and only 1 dart to win.”

“Opponent on 40, you on 164 — must at least get to a finish.”

“Need a treble to keep the leg alive.”

2. Have them talk through their decision before throwing to reinforce strategic thinking under stress.

3. Rotate scenarios quickly to keep cognitive load high.

ACHIEVEMENT MARKERS :

Beginner: Correctly identifies the right shot 60% of the time.

Intermediate: Executes under pressure with correct choice 75% of the time.

Advanced: Hits target in 50%+ of single-chance pressure situations.

Practice Structure:

10-minute block per session, with 6–10 scenarios.

End with a “sudden death” scenario where success ends the drill, failure repeats it.
