Leg vs. Set Play

KEY CONCEPTS :

Leg Play

Matches decided by a set number of legs (e.g., first to 6 legs).

Each leg is a single game of 501 (or starting format).

Consistent scoring is key; momentum is continuous.
Set Play

Matches divided into sets, each consisting of a number of legs (e.g., first to 3 legs per set).

First player to win the required number of sets wins the match.

DETAILS :

Key Differences

Leg play is a sprint: one continuous race to a target number of legs.

Set play allows for comebacks: each set is a mini-match.

Set play adds a psychological element—players can reset mentally between sets.
