Key Origin Doubles and Their Function

Key Origin Doubles and Their Function

Practical Steps:

Teach doubles in order:

  • D20 → D10 → D5

  • D18 → D9

  • D16 → D8 → D4 → D2 → D1

  • D14 → D7

  • D12 → D6 → D3

  • Use Dartboard Maths DESK DARTBOARD TO show check-out paths.

  • Practice “Double Out” circuits where students must finish on specific doubles.

  • Run “Pressure Check-Out” where they must hit the double in 9 darts or less.

Implementation Strategies:

  • Create a “doubles ladder” poster with levels for students to climb.

  • Group students by target double to reduce pressure.

  • Introduce storytelling (e.g., “D16 is your best friend when under pressure!”).

  • Have “Double of the Day” and build mini-games around it.
