Coach Feedback Loop

Objective: Ensure continuous two-way communication between coach and player, fostering trust, accountability, and growth.

Implementation Steps:

1. Schedule Weekly Debriefs

Fixed day/time each week (e.g., Sunday evenings after practice or Monday pre-training).

Keep it consistent so it becomes part of the player’s rhythm.

2. Structure the Debrief (15–20 mins)

Recap:
Player explains their week’s performance in their own words.

Highlights:
Identify what went well — praise specific actions, not vague effort.

Challenges:
Discuss moments of struggle without blame.

Action Points:
Agree on 1–2 key focuses for the next week.
3. Delivery Tips for Coaches

Use open-ended questions:
“What felt different this week?”

Avoid overloading with too many corrections — focus on no more than 2–3 changes per week.

End on a positive — leave the player motivated.

4. Recording

Document the debrief notes in the player’s journal or coach’s log.

This creates a trail for monitoring improvement over time.
