Adjust Stance Width and Shoulder Alignment for Consistency
Purpose:
Maximise stability and reduce lateral movement during throws.
Teaching Method:
Test Stance Width – Start shoulder-width apart; narrow stance for mobility, widen for stability. Let the player feel balance differences.
Check Shoulder Alignment – Front shoulder should point naturally toward target without twisting torso uncomfortably.
Balance Drill – Player holds stance for 10 seconds before throwing — if balance wobbles, stance may be too narrow or uneven.
Photograph or Film – Use visuals to help players lock in their “reference stance.”
ACHIEVEMENT MARKER :
Beginner: Finds stance they can hold for 15 seconds without adjusting feet.
Intermediate: Stance remains identical for 90% of throws in practice.
Advanced: Stance remains consistent in high-pressure matches and over extended sessions.
Practice Structure:
Warm-up drill: Stand in chosen stance and throw 10 darts with eyes closed (forces body to feel stability).
Between visits, look down to check if feet have shifted — if yes, reset immediately.
